The 60-second science 1960 the year the first laser was built

Lasers and LEDs deliver the same thing, differently

Both send photons into your skin. A laser’s light is coherent: every wave in step, one exact color, packed into a point. An LED’s light is broader and spreads out to cover more area.

A 2018 review of light therapy concluded both can work, and that wavelength and dose matter most. So instead of choosing, Elysium Pro uses both.

Think of it like this

A laser is a marching band, every step in sync. An LED is a crowd walking the same way. Both get there. One covers detail, the other covers ground.

Ten minutes

Face and neck in one session

Your neck shows age as fast as your face and usually gets none of the attention.

Two light sources

Points plus coverage

Laser diodes concentrate light into precise points while LEDs fill in every area between them.

Fine lines

Less wrinkling in 4 weeks

In a 76-person trial, red and near-infrared light twice a week reduced wrinkling and improved elasticity compared with a sham light.

Neck and jawline

The 9% you forget

Burn units count your head and neck as 9% of your skin. The included neck panel lights the half of that a face mask skips.

How it works

Two wavelengths, two depths

Light between roughly 650 and 1,350 nanometers sits in the body’s optical window: the range where blood and water absorb the least, so light travels the furthest. Longer wavelengths reach deeper.

660NM · RED

Absorbed in the top layers of skin. The wavelength used in most skin studies.

850NM · NEAR-IR

Invisible to you, and it travels further into tissue, toward muscle and joints.

Myth vs truth

What most people get wrong about red light

Myth

Laser means it burns.

Truth

Resurfacing lasers at a clinic heat and wound skin on purpose. Low-level lasers work at power levels that don’t cut or burn tissue. Same word, different job: a scalpel and a butter knife are both knives.

Heiskanen & Hamblin · Photochem Photobiol Sci · 2018
Myth

Lasers always beat LEDs.

Truth

A 2018 review of photobiomodulation found both can work, because wavelength and dose matter more than the source. That’s why Elysium Pro uses both: laser points plus even LED coverage.

Heiskanen & Hamblin · Photochem Photobiol Sci · 2018
Myth

If 20 minutes is good, an hour is better.

Truth

Light follows a biphasic dose response: too little does nothing, the right dose helps, and too much can cancel the benefit. It’s watering a plant, not filling a pool. Use the timer.

Huang et al. · Dose-Response · 2009

Review

Lasers vs LEDs

Compared lasers and LEDs for photobiomodulation and concluded both can work; wavelength and dose matter more than the light source.

LED light and facial wrinkles

Adults with facial wrinkles used red (633 nm), near-infrared (830 nm), both, or a sham light for 4 weeks. The real-light groups showed less wrinkling and better elasticity than sham.

Whole-body red light and skin collagen

Full-body red light units, twice a week for 30 sessions. Skin complexion and roughness improved, and ultrasound measured higher collagen density than in the control group.

Mechanism

The enzyme that absorbs red light

Cytochrome c oxidase, part of the energy chain inside your mitochondria, absorbs red and near-infrared light and changes how the cell makes energy.

FAQ

Questions

Is the laser safe for my eyes?

Never look into the laser points, and keep the included goggles on during every session.

Will it burn my skin?

No. These are low-level lasers, which work at power levels far below the clinic lasers that heat and resurface skin.

How is it different from Elysium?

Elysium uses LEDs only. Elysium Pro adds laser diodes for focused points of light and includes a neck and jawline panel.

Do I use it before or after skincare?

Use it on clean, dry skin. Apply serums and moisturizer after the session.

How often should I use it?

Three to five sessions a week. Start on a low intensity level and let the timer end the session.

Can I return it?

Yes. Start a return within 30 days of delivery by emailing info@tharsyn.com. The refund policy has the conditions.

Two lights. One mask.
